My mother's Coconut Candies
- roast 3 cups of grated coconut
- add 3 cups of sugar and 3 cups of evaporated milk
- stir over medium heat til mixture thickens
- spread on heatproof tray
- add a little bit of butter and flatten
- cut into cubes before letting to cool and harden
Grandma's Pumpkin Peretal
- stir fry shallots, garlic, curry leaves, dry chillis and mustard seeds
- add cubed pumpkin and water
- add chilli powder and salt
- finally add some 'assam water' cook on slow fire, stirring all the time
