 My mother's Coconut Candies
  1. roast 3 cups of grated coconut
  2. add 3 cups of sugar and 3 cups of evaporated milk
  3. stir over medium heat til mixture thickens
  4. spread on heatproof tray
  5. add a little bit of butter and flatten
  6. cut into cubes before letting to cool and harden

Grandma's Pumpkin Peretal 
  1. stir fry shallots, garlic, curry leaves, dry chillis and mustard seeds 
  2. add cubed pumpkin and water 
  3. add chilli powder and salt 
  4. finally add some 'assam water' cook on slow fire, stirring all the time
